The Knights started fast getting a 7-1 lead after 1 and half innings. In the first Emily Viramontes got a single to center field scoring 2 to start the Knights off right in the 1st. Tolleson got a run back in the bottom half of the inning. The Knights scored 5 times in the top of the 2nd on a Melina Bueno double to score 2, Bueno and Maegan Viramontes both scored on separate catching errors by the 3rd baseman. Mercedes Cabrales finished the scoring in the inning with a 2 out, RBI single to center field. Tolleson did get 3 back in the 2nd and 3 back in the 4th to tie the score at 7. In the 6th, everything happened with 2 outs. M. Viramontes tripled to right center, E. Viramontes singled her home. E. Viramontes then advanced 2 bases on a wild pitch and Cabrales put the ball in play and Tolleson made one of their 5 errors on the night to score E. Viramontes. Tolleson answered right back scoring 2 in the bottom of the 6th with a lot of help from the Westview defense. Westview committed 3 of their 7 errors in the bottom of the 6th.

Things got very interesting in the bottom of the 7th. With 2 out and nobody on Tolleson hit the ball and it ended up being a 3 base error putting the winning run on third base. Westview intentionally walked both the 3 and 4 hitters for Tolleson loading the bases. Hollie Steeves induced a lazy pop fly to 2nd base, sending the game to extra innings.

In the top of the 8th, Steeves grounded out, M. Viramontes singled, and E. Viramontes grounded into a fielders choice, leaving 2 out and a runner on 1st. Tolleson then employed the intentional walk to Cabrales, sending Courtney Richardson to the plate. As an in game sub she was 0-2 at the plate, but hit a flare into center field falling between the center fielder and 2nd baseman scoring the eventual winning run.

Tolleson didn’t go easy in the bottom of the 8th. First batter grounded out, the next batter walked. After a wild pitch sending the runner to 2nd and another wild pitch sending the runner to 3rd, Westview played the infield in. Tolleson hit a ground ball to 2nd baseman Makayla Escobedo who threw home and got the runner going home trying to score. The batter did get into scoring position taking second base during the run down. The final batter grounded out to E. Viramontes for Westview to take the win.

These two teams will play again on Friday at 3:45pm first pitch at Westview High School.
