Girls Varsity Volleyball · CM – Attitude – Volleyaball

Aziza – JVB
Izzy – JVA
Amy – Varsity

A good attitude goes a long ways, and these three athletes had a great attitude on and off the court.

Varsity Cross Country · Character Matters: MASTERY

MASTERY: Displaying a great skill or technique; comprehensive knowledge in a subject; upper hand in competition.

We believe that Jose and Valeria (both of our Junior Captains) display the character trait Mastery. Both of these young athletes have committed to their sport in all aspects of their lives. They’re constantly researching about their sport and adapting to new practices and strategies. We look forward to watching them continue to succeed as they push the boundaries.

“Skill is only developed by hours and hours of work.”-Usain Bolt

Boys Varsity Golf · CM -Mastery

Varsity Cross Country · Nike Desert Twilight XC Festival

This past weekend our runners participated in the Nike Desert Twilight XC Festival. They spend the day surrounded by other amazing athletes from around the country. Congratulations to the following for hitting a new PR:
Jose Palafox 16:27
Richard Vasquez 17:36
Jude Romero 20:35
Aileene Arias 23:51

A special shout out to Jose Palafox for getting 14th place overall in the Large School Varsity race!

Varsity Cross Country · Character Matters: ATTITUDE

Attitude: A mental position or feeling expressed by behavior.

Matt:
“Cross country is a tedious but rewarding sport that has been very beneficial to me. I decided to participate in XC because it would help build up my endurance for soccer. My favorite part about XC is the positivity from my coaches, teammates, and even the competition. Being a part of XC has made me who I am today, and it has made me stronger physically and emotionally. I hope to continue improving and striving for greatness.”

Matt is an incredibly polite and responsible young athlete. He is always communicating with his coaches and is a leader for the team. His attitude demonstrates good sportsmanship, and really the attitude that’s necessary for greatness in a sport where your performance is so reliant on your attitude.

Sara:
“I joined XC because I enjoy running and challenging myself to be better. I like it because of the positive energy from the coaches and my teammates. I look forward to continuing to improve and make new memories.”

Sara is a senior and she continues to share her positive attitude with her teammates. As one of 2 seniors (and the only one returning) she leads the girls from behind the scenes and offers support. She is always encouraging her teammates to keep pushing. My favorite thing is that she welcomes new members and immediately treats them like family.

“To think you can and to think you can’t, either way you’ll be right.”-Henry Ford

Varsity Cross Country · Youngker Meet

Quick update:
Incredible meet run with 20 of the 25 athletes hitting a new PR. Special shout out to Lydia for hitting a 22:15 (3rd fastest time of Westview for XC) and our Captain Richard for changing his PR from 19:04 to a 17:45! Congratulations to all athletes who found success in their race.
